Scientific Foundations and Psychometric Validity Report
Purpose
This study summarizes the development process of the CharacterIX Personality Inventory, its psychometric validity and reliability results, as well as its academic applications in various fields such as leadership, educational management, and career counseling.
The inventory aims to scientifically validate the nine-type personality typology of the Enneagram using modern measurement methods within a scientific framework.
Method
2018 – CharacterIX GB-TR Scientific Study
🔬 Scientific Evaluation and Findings
Based on a large dataset obtained from 21,140 participants, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were conducted.
The results indicate that the nine-factor structure of the CharacterIX Personality Inventory supports the theoretically proposed Enneagram-based personality model.
The obtained fit indices show that the model has an acceptable level of psychometric validity, while the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients demonstrate that each factor possesses a high level of internal consistency.
Reliability values by factor range between .727 and .879, and the overall reliability coefficient of the scale was determined as α = .877. These results support the following scientific conclusions:
The scale shows high internal consistency in measuring personality traits; that is, the items within each factor measure the same psychological construct.
α coefficients above .70 indicate that the reliability of the scale is well above acceptable limits (Kaplan & Saccuzzo, 1989; Özgüven, 2007).
The balanced consistency among the factors supports the construct validity of the scale.
Due to the large sample size (n = 21,140), the results can be considered statistically strong and generalizable.
In conclusion, the CharacterIX Personality Inventory is evaluated as both a valid and reliable psychometric tool for measuring the nine personality types.
The high internal consistency of the scale provides strong evidence for its use in the scientific analysis of personality profiles and in counseling processes.
2018 – 26th National Management Congress Paper
The inventory results of 28,484 Generation Z individuals were analyzed to evaluate leadership tendencies.
The findings were interpreted within the framework of the “Leadership Development Wheel” model.
2019 – School Administrators Thesis
The inventory results of 1,111 school administrators across Turkey were evaluated to examine the distribution of dominant personality types in management.
2023 – Public Relations Doctoral Dissertation
The relationship between Enneagram personality types and career preferences among university students was analyzed.
Application Areas
Leadership (2018)
In the Generation Z sample, the most common type was Type 2 (Helper).
Each type’s unique leadership style was identified, and the results demonstrated the inventory’s applicability in leadership development and human resources management.
Educational Management (2019)
Among school principals, Type 2 was again found to be the most common type.
The lower rates of Type 3 and Type 8 suggest that empathy, fairness, and cooperation, which are human-centered leadership skills, come to the forefront in educational management.
Career Choice (2023)
Among Public Relations students, significant differences were found between personality traits and preferred professional roles.
Type 3 students tended to prefer managerial/strategic roles, while Type 9 students were more inclined toward communication/coordination roles.
Conclusion
The CharacterIX Personality Inventory is a psychometrically validated, reliable, and valid measurement instrument.
Research demonstrates that the inventory is applicable not only for individual development, but also in the fields of leadership development, educational management, human resources, and career counseling.
